all our rights and freedom because the BN had a two-thirds’ majority to
amend the Federal Constitution. To safeguard our rights and freedom we
must NEVER, EVER give them this two-thirds’ majority, asserts P Ramakrishnan.
The Barisan Nasional does not need a two-thirds’ majority to govern effectively. A simple majority is all that it requires to form a government.
A simple majority is sufficient to run the country effectively. Adopting policies and passing bills will not be a problem. The Opposition cannot prevent the Budget from being passed. Bills can be introduced and debated without any problem.
Elsewhere in the world, governments have served their citizens effectively with a simple majority. Locally, Kelantan with a one-seat majority has been running the state government quite easily and without any problem.

Any sensible Opposition has to support policies that are sound and sane. Issues concerning the fight against corruption or the eradication of poverty or mitigation of floods are issues that benefit the people. No Opposition in its right mind will want to oppose this. To pass these bills no government needs a two-thirds’ majority.
A two-thirds’ majority has always been a dangerous weapon. Don’t trust the BN with such a majority. Look at all the unjust and obnoxious laws that have been passed because they had the two-thirds’ majority necessary to amend the Federal Constitution.
