Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem is the third holiest site in Islam, after Mecca and Medina.
Over the years, Israeli groups have been conducting archaeological excavations on the sacred site, part of efforts to reframe its past, erase centuries of Islamic presence, and assert exclusive Jewish ownership over it.
Astro Awani’s Melisa Idris speaks with a Palestinian scholar whose PhD research is challenging these Zionist narratives. Dr Arafat Amro is the director of the Islamic Museum at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.
