Petaling Jaya (PJ) resident have been in a constant struggle against the construction of the PJD Link by developers PJD Link (M) Sdn Bhd, a rehashed version of the controversial Kidex project that started in 2011.
As a result of public backlash, Kidex was cancelled by the Selangor government in 2015 as the project failed to address certain mandatory requirements.
However, it was revived as the Petaling Jaya Dispersal (PJD) Link in 2018 to the dismay of the residents who had been toiling against the development of the highway.
After constant pressure from the PJ residents, the Selangor state government finally relented and announced on 31 July 2023 it had cancelled the highway project because the social impact study of the developers was both non-compliant with state conditions and unsatisfactory.
This good news was short-lived. On 1 August 2023, the very next day, the Selangor government said that the PJD Link could be revived if it meets the requirements and satisfies the residents. This was not a good sign for the future of the PJ residents.

Fast forward to November 2024. Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung revealed that at a cabinet meeting, the federal agencies had approved the developers’ new realignment plan for the PJD Link project.
This was not a surprise after the Selangor state government’s announcement in August.
After half a decade of struggle, in May 2025, the High Court finally ordered the Selangor government to hand over key documents related to the PJD Link to four Petaling Jaya residents within a month.
The documents that were required to be disclosed are the social, environmental and traffic impact assessments, as well as the detailed design and alignment of the project.
It is now 12 August, and more than a month has passed since the orders from the High Court.
Yet the Selangor government has not yet passed any of the required documents to any of the four PJ residents. This leaves the PJ residents anxious and displeased with the Selangor government and their unwillingness to stop this absurd project.
We, the undersigned organisations and individuals, demand that the Selangor state government honour the court’s decision, and hand over key documents related to the proposed PJD Link project to the four PJ residents immediately.
