Aliran's 24th AGM P Ramakrishnan was re-elected as president of Aliran at its 24th Annual General Meeting held on 19 November 2000 in Rumah Aliran in Penang. Also re-elected were Dr Francis Loh as Secretary, Dr Mustafa K Anuar as Asst Secretary and Dr S P Subramaniam as Treasurer. Others elected as members of the Executive Committee for 2001 are: Gan Kong Hwee, Zaharom Nain, Anil Netto, Dr Khoo Boo Teik, Dr Chan Chee Khoon, S Francis Xavier, Dr Prema Devaraj, Pajand Singh, Dr Molly Lee, Andrew Wong, and Jubal Lourdes. After debating the current political situation, especially the state of the judiciary, the meeting resolved "to call upon the government to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into the state of the Malaysian judiciary with a view to restoring its integrity and independence."
