Himpunan Aman: 23 Julai 2014 | 6.00 petang | Dataran Pidato, Padang Kota Lama, P.Pinang

Peaceful assembly: Stop killing people of Palestine

23 July 2014| 6.00pm| Speakers’ Square, Esplanade, Penang

The steady killing of Palestinian civilians by the Israeli army have brought many innocent citizens to death and is a kind of human rights exploitation. According to Al Jazeera, the death toll of Palestinians has reached 640, including children, in 16 days. Meanwhile, 4000 wounded.

Once upon a time, Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together peacefully, but when the Zionist regime (which is supported by imperialist powers such as Britain and America) launched brutal military action for their own benefit, the situation has changed.

Thus, the purpose of this peaceful assembly is to show Malaysians’ support for the Palestinians and to demand that Israeli stop the mass killing.

We call upon all the rakyat, regardless of race, religion and political ideology to join us for the same cause.

Brutal or disproportionate as the actions of the Isreal is, one should not ignore the fact that over 1000 rockets have been fired at them from Gaza. Who are the culprits behind those rockets? Are they the armed forces of Gaza or some splinter mlitant groups? If they are the former, shouldn’t they be held responsible for putting their own people in danger when they were fully aware that Isreal would retaliate in full military force? If they are from the latter, shouldn’t the government take the necessary steps to curb their actions? Remember that one of the prime responsibilities of any ruling government is to protect the safety of its own people, from within or without. The Isreali government is doing just that. Are the Hamas doing the same?
