Many of the issues and principles Karpal fought for remain relevant, and we have a duty to continue to fight for these ideals, says S Arutchelvan.
There is a Malay saying, “Harimau mati meninggalkan belang, manusia mati meninggalkan nama.” Karpal Singh has left us with both. His track record will speak about him.
His ISA detentions, the many times he was thrown out of Parliament, his many outbursts, the debates and his latest sedition conviction. He has left a permanent mark in our life, in our struggle and in our nation’s history.
Karpal was also the most principled and consistent defender of the secular state.
PSM salutes this great leader and we mourn his death as if it was one of us. Where compromises and safe stands have
been the order of daily politics, Karpal always stood his ground.
PSM expresses our deepest respect and condolences to Karpal’s family, the family of his long-time assistant, Michael Cornelius Jayakrishnan, to the DAP members, relatives and supporters.

The Tiger may have left us but his struggles and what he fought for will always be remembered for many years to come and will be used as a yardstick for the future. Many of the issues and principles Karpal fought for remain relevant, and we have a duty to continue to fight for these ideals.
PSM salutes Karpal.
