Angkatan Kesatuan Siswa Sosialis (Aksi)
Recently, there was an influx of reactionary and bigoted statements published by ‘progressive’ university student groups in the name of “morals”, “values” and “social issues”.
This is clearly nothing but empty talk.
There are a few points to address here, particularly when it comes to the priorities of the groups involved in publishing these statements.
Within this month alone, there have been various issues, such as the Shamsul Iskandar Akin corruption scandal, the Sabah election, the deaths in police custody, the demolition of various kampungs for greedy developers.

But of all the things to publish a statement or make an announcement about, these groups pick ‘declining morals on campus’ or the ‘need for values in society’.
These groups thus divert from issues of major importance, issues which affect the day-to-day lives of the common people, to fight imaginary issues.
Back in the 1960s, subversive elements of society would be allegedly paid…to hide major issues with the use of irrelevant or falsified situations.
Apparently, the economy has deteriorated to such an extent that, in 2025, they are now willing to do so for free.
It is also important to note that some of these groups claim to be progressive left-wing movements (don’t laugh!) but, at the same time, publish bigoted views against oppressed minorities. There is little analysis to be made here apart from the fact that the real standing of these groups is anti-progressive in nature; they are left-wing in the sense that Mussolini was left-wing when compared with Hitler.
Certain news agencies must also be held accountable for their sensationalisation of the recent situations in relation to the police raids. Aksi has observed that for the purposes of garnering views and clicks or likes, certain agencies made outdated and frankly backwards connections between HIV and homosexual relationships with little mention of the police’s failure to charge anyone, or what these mass arrests mean for the future of the oppressed queer community in Malaysia.
This is yet again a clear demonstration of bourgeois news and their real interests – profits come first before reporting on what matters.
We must also address the news that has been going around, that there was an ‘anti-LGBT’ protest that took place in Chow Kit. Of all the things to do with our freedom to peaceful assembly, these NGOs had decided that they would spread bigotry rather than address pressing matters of corruption and police abuse of power. It is therefore clear that they are an enemy of the people.
The use of ‘morals’ and ‘values’ as excuses for bigotry is bourgeois propaganda; these moral values of being against same-sex relationships or engagements are only used against those that they wish to suppress.
By taking on such values, you unwittingly take on the interests and aid in the efforts of the ruling class. That is to say, those who argue for such do not have their interests in line with the people, but those of the oppressor.
As a whole, Aksi condemns all the above parties; they act as tools of the capitalist base in reinforcing itself by utilising bigotry and reactionarism to create infighting and thus distract the common people from their oppression.
Even if done so unwittingly, the outcome of their statements, articles and actions is clear and simple: they are on the side of the oppressor, not that of the oppressed. – Aksi
