Let’s support the police chief in reforming the force

Former police chief Hamid Bador made a bold allegation - THE STAR

Follow us on our Malay and English WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Tiktok and Youtube channels.

Let us all pledge support for him in his avowed mission to make the force reputable, corruption-free, friendly and professional, says Patriot.

Inspector General of Police Hamid Bador is a man of high repute.

Since assuming his role in May he has set his sight in reforming the police force. His intent to transform the force out of its battered image is a herculean task, considering the decades of abuse inflicted by the previous administration.

The inspector general has vowed to stem corruption and has ordered his officers and men to disassociate themselves from the activities of the underworld. The task ahead for him is daunting and requires support and understanding from his officers, other personnel, politicians and the public.

Hamid was blunt when he said the sex video investigation purportedly involving a senior PKR politician had taken too much of his time and that of his officers, whose time could otherwise be used for other meaningful police duties. His rebuke of politicians on this unnecessary burden that apparently sprung from intra-party leadership rivalry was necessary and rightfully so.

There have been calls for inspector general’s resignation by certain quarters who accused the police chief of being elusive in not stating conclusively the findings on the investigation into the sex video – including one calling him a liar. Patriot views such calls as immature and irresponsible.

The inspector general is correct in not making public the findings of the investigation as the investigation papers are now in the custody of the attorney general’s office. Doing so pre-empts the work of the attorney general’s office and plays to the gallery of gutter politics now at play.

Patriot acknowledges that the allegation of a senior PKR politician’s involvement in the sex video is serious – and agrees fully that, should the allegation be true, the politician has no other option but to resign.

The police chief’s tenure of office is only two years and he has a load on his shoulder to put things right. Let us all pledge support for him to accomplish his avowed mission to make the force a reputable, corruption-free, friendly and professional one that all Malaysians can respect, honour and be proud of.

No one can change anyone if he doesn’t want to change ! Ignorance of discipline is the main cause of all the problems and the top ranking officers should hold responsibility for this ignorance ! All uniform organisation will be well managed if discipline is observed by every one in the group !

Let us all give our utmost moral support for this IGP for having gone through the mill of suffering. He is devoid of false news.but human enough to be humble &humane.
He is the ear & eyes of the citizens.Sometimes he may be forced to listen to the voice of the EXE. for a peaceful stay of evil events beyond his controlThat simply means that truth is stranger than fiction.
