Reconsider approach to ‘fake news’, UN special rapporteur tells Malaysia

The new emergency ordinance has revived many of the problematic provisions of the repealed Anti-Fake News Act 2018 and added provisions that raise further concerns, Irene Khan, the UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, has told the Malaysian government.
