The National Patriots Association (Patriot) is disappointed with what seems to be procrastination and a lack of will by the authorities to bring to closure of the cases of forced disappearance.

The Suhakam fact-finding committee, comprising three very qualified and respected legal professionals led by Mah Weng Kwai, took 18 months of painstaking inquiry and came to their conclusion that the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat was due to forced disappearance.

That decision was announced on 3 April 2019. Now, nearly three months, the home affairs minister just announced the formation of a special taskforce to investigate the disappearance of the missing persons.

The composition of the special taskforce does not inspire the confidence of the people. There were no terms of reference mentioned. Is the role of the special taskforce to start an inquiry all over again?

Patriot expects the minister to act decisively and bring to book the culprits responsible for the forced disappearance of persons, irrespective of their position and rank. If the minister fails to do so, then it is incumbent upon the cabinet to act accordingly. No more procrastination.

Malaysians as a whole want a fast closure to this case. There should be no more foot-dragging. Our nation has so much to do, like putting in order economic issues to prepare for an imminent world economic downturn and the hardship to come.

Retired Brigadier General Dato Mohamed Arshad Raji is president of the National Patriots Association (Patriot).

Aliran and Arshad Raji, keep up the good work.Msns do still have immense hopes with OUR new govt.Muhidin has vast experience. The human factor is to further EMPATHISE with the families involved. This is one major trait Msns expected of the new leaders when they voted them in-the value and principle of understanding and working for the peoples’ needs and problems. You would want the medical doctor to be thorough in treating you and ‘curing’ you of your illness. Suhakam and the lawyers have done their jobs. The general public knows what the police is capable of-for both good and bad. PM, cabinet can do WHAT is NEEDED RIGHTLY.Please be brave in God, to get them back to their families, also Indira’s daughter. You have it in your powers now…
