[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Suruhanjaya Hak Asasi Manusia Malaysia (Suhakam) memandang serius deportasi 114 warga Myanmar berikutan keputusan Mahkamah Tinggi untuk membatalkan perintah penangguhan interim yang menghalang penghantaran pulang mereka pada 13 Disember.

No one should be returned to a country where they may be subjected to persecution

The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) views with concern the imminent deportation of 114 Myanmar nationals arising from a decision of the High Court to lift the interim stay on the prevention of deportation on 13 December.

The Court of Appeal is scheduled to hear the urgent stay application on 20 December (Tuesday). We urge the home minister to step in and stop the deportation process to allow independent bodies to reach out to these individuals to allow a proper evaluation to be carried out in a suitable environment.

As a member of the UN Human Rights Council, it is crucial for Malaysia to continue with efforts to find lasting solutions to the longstanding issue so that no one should be returned to a country where they may be subjected to persecution.
