The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0) is concerned with the current political situation where several elected representatives are switching parties.
Bersih 2.0 would like to state our position on the issue, as follows:
Bersih 2.0 is against party switching by elected representatives after elections. This is against the principle of elections where representatives were chosen by voters on the basis of their party affiliations, principles, and manifestos.
If elected representatives wish to change their position with regard to the party that they represent, they must resign and vacate their respective constituencies and allow voters to decide their choice of new representative.
As for Sarawak, in the 2016 state election, Sarawak voters gave their mandate to BN to form the state government. Any changes of position or coalition in the state should be done via a fresh election process.

We really need a law that would trigger a by-election if the elected person decides to jump to another party.
