Debate cancelled, only one panel member agree to participate

The Coalition for Clean and Fair Election (Bersih 2.0) has to cancelled the debate among Sabah chief ministerial candidates as only one panel member, Pandikar Amin, the de facto leader of Usno, agree to join the debate.

Pandikar is the first to have responded positively to the invitation while Bersih 2.0 is still waiting for a favourable reply from other candidates.

The other chief ministerial candidates who were invited to join the debate were Warisan president Shafie Apdal, Parti Cinta Sabah president Anifah Aman, Sabah Umno chairperson Bung Mokhtar Radin, Bersatu chairperson Hajiji Noor and former Sabah Chief Minister Chong Kah Kiat from the Liberal Democratic Party.

We laud Pandikar for his willingness to face the voters and explain his party’s vision and manifesto for Sabah. This sets a good example in contributing to a healthier and more mature election culture by engaging in a policy debate so that voters can make informed decision in the election.

Bersih 2.0 is disappointed not to be able to conduct this debate. If this debate takes place, it would hopefully have been a new norm for the electoral process in Sabah with the candidates for chief minister having to present their arguments, visions and manifestos conclusively to the voters.
