Semalam, pengerusi Bersih Maria Chin Abdullah menerima sebuah ugutan bunuh melalui Whatsapp. Ugutan itu dibuat terhadap Maria dan keluarga beliau dan didakwa dikeluarkan oleh Islamic State Malaysia.
Mesej tersebut berbunyi:
“HOI MARIA..AKU TAK MAU BAGI SALAM KT KO SBB AKU TAK TAU KO NI ISLAM BETUL KE TAK..KO DGR SINI BAIK2..AKU TAK MO CKP BNYK KALI. AKU NK BAGI LAST WARNING KT KO JANGAN TERUSKAN NIAT BODOH KO UNTUK ANJUR HIMPUNAN BERSIH YANG MENATANG APA TU..KO JANGAN CUBA NAK BANGKITKAN KEMARAHAN ORG2 MELAYU..
KO JANGAN HERET ORG MELAYU BERSEKONGKOL DENGAN CINA DAN KELING KAPIR HARBI TU..AKU TAK KAN TERAGAK-AGAK UNTUK BALUN SAMPAI LUMAT DAN JUGA SANGGUP SEMBELIH KO DAN KUNCU-KUNCU ANJING KO SEMUA TU MACAM AMBIGA PANDIKUTTY DAN ANAK HARAM SI MANDEEP.

Penghantar atau kumpulan yang menghantar mesej tersebut memberi amaran supaya perhimpunan Bersih 5 tidak diteruskan dan mengugut untuk “sembelih” dan “potong kepala” Maria dan “kuncu-kuncu anjing” beliau.
Ugutan tersebut turut melampirkan gambar tiga orang anak Maria. Perbuatan terhina ini menunjukkan kekejian dan betapa terdesaknya dalang-dalang yang terlibat ini. Yang lebih teruk lagi adalah tindakan ini menggunakan nama agama Islam untuk menabur fitnah dan mengugut Maria, Ambiga, Mandeep, dan anak-anak Maria.
Ugutan bunuh ini juga bertujuan menakutkan gerakan aman Bersih. Konvoi Bersih yang sedang berlangsung telah berjaya menyebarkan mesej perubahan institusi di bandar-bandar dan kampung-kampung di seluruh Malaysia. Ini telah meningkatkan banyak kesedaran di kalangan rakyat dan menggugat mereka yang menentang Bersih.
Sejak Konvoi Bersih dan perhimpunan Bersih 5 diumumkan, pelbagai kenyataan berbaur perkauman, ugutan, perbohongan berunsurkan keagamaan, and keganasan telah diajukan terhadap Bersih.
Bersih menolak sekeras-kerasnya tindakan dan serangan-serangan sebegini yang bertentangan dengan sistem demokrasi. Mereka yang bertanggungjawab harus ditahan. Jika pihak polis boleh memburu pengguna internet yang dikatakan memuat turun gambar dan kenyataan bahaya, sudah tentu mereka juga boleh memburu penghantar mesej tersebut. Ugutan di atas nama IS adalah jauh lebih serius, dan Bersih berharap bahawa penjenayah-penjenayah ini akan dibawa ke muka pengadian.
Kami juga menyeru kepada rakyat Malaysia supaya menolak keganasan dan membuat laporan polis di seluruh negara terhadap ugutan bunuh IS ini yang ditujukan kepada enam individu tersebut.
Kerajaan dan menteri-menteri BN harus menghentikan ugutan dan keganasan. Tindakan membisu mereka bermakna mereka memberi laluan kepada ugutan IS dan tindakan baju merah Umno.
Ugutan adalah sebuah bentuk tirani. Orang-orang zalim menggunakan kuasa untuk menyokong mereka yang bersalah dan memangsakan mereka menuntut kebenaran. Kita perlu menentang kezaliman. Jika kita menyerah dan menerima korupsi dan penyalahgunaan kuasa, bermakna kami menerima keganasan. Sebaliknya, kita mesti meneruskan perjuangan kami untuk kebaikan.
Kami tidak akan ditakutkan dengan oleh ugutan keganasan dan akan meneruskan rancangan Konvoi Bersih dan perhimpunan Bersih. Tuntutan-tuntutan Bersih masih kukuh, iaitu untuk pilihan raya yang bersih, kerjaan yang bersih, hak membantah, memperkukuh demokrasi berparlimen, dan memperkasa Sabah dan Sarawak.

Bersih 2.0 chairperson, Maria Chin Abdullah, yesterday received a WhatsApp death threat against her and her family allegedly signed off as Islamic State Malaysia.
The message read as follows:

The person, persons or group warned against following through with the upcoming Bersih 5 rally and threatened to “slaughter” and “behead” Maria and her “anjing” cohorts.
The threat was particularly vile as disturbing images of Maria’s three sons were also sent in the WhatsApp message. Indeed, singling out Maria’s children is despicable and showed the lowness and desperation of the perpetrator(s). Even more deplorable is that it hides behind the façade of Islam and distorts it to defame, threaten and scare Maria, Ambiga, Mandeep and Maria’s sons.
The IS death threats are also meant to strike fear and to silence the Bersih peaceful movement. The Bersih Convoy has gained momentum and successfully reached the towns and villages it had set out to achieve. This has raised awareness among the people from these areas and struck discord among those who do not support Bersih’s cause.
Since the start of the Bersih convoy and the announcement of the 19 November rally, racist remarks, verbal death threats like “will not walk on this earth”, lies in the name of Islam, and deplorable violence have been used against the movement.
Bersih 2.0 strongly condemns these offensive and violent acts as an appalling and deplorable affront to parliamentary democracy. The perpetrators should be arrested. If the police can hunt down netizens who are deemed a threat for uploading so-called damaging images and statements, they can track these criminals down.
The threat of IS violence is even more serious and Bersih 2.0 expects these criminals to be brought to justice.
We also call upon all Malaysians to condemn such acts of atrocities and make nationwide police reports against IS threats of violence towards Bersih 2.0 and the six individuals whose lives are under severe threat.
The government and BN cabinet ministers must end the use of threats. Their continued silence will mean that they condone IS threats and also the Umno red shirt violence.
Intimidation is the exercise of tyranny. Tyrants use power to award victory to wrong-doers at the expense of right-doers. We must oppose tyranny. If we cave in to tyrants and quietly accept corruption and abuse, we will be fenced in by what is worst in humanity. We must instead be driven by what is best.
We will not be cowed by fear and threats of violence and will proceed with our plans for both the convoy and the rally. Let us show the tyrants that we will not be intimidated into giving up our calls to unite and shape a new Malaysia.
Our cause and demands remain as we call for clean government, clean and fair elections, the right to dissent, the strengthening of parliamentary democracy and the empowerment of Sabah and Sarawak.
Violence has no place in Malaysia.
