The Penang Bersih 5 Convoy successfully handed over the Bersih torch to Perak Bersih after concluding a week of activities in Penang.
The 22-car convoy from Penang reached Titi Serong in Parit Buntar, where Aliran executive member Dr Prema Devaraj, representing the Penang Bersih 5 organising committee, handed over the torch to Perak Bersih representatives.
The convoy had earlier staged flash mobs at Queensbay mall…
and at the Esplanade…
and distributed leaflets at Gurney Drive and Jalan Raja Uda in Butterworth, before making its way to Perak.

During the journey, about a dozen Amal Relief Malaysia (Arif) in orange attire escorted the convoy.
Several police personnel on motorbikes and police cars were also seen along the convoy at different stages of the journey.
Many other plainclothes and uniformed police were also seen along the journey. But those in the convoy did not spot any Red Shirts.
At Parit Buntar, the Perak Bersih team hosted their Penang counterparts to light refreshments before the torch was officially handed over.
Also in the Penang Bersih convoy were Aliran president Dr Francis Loh and other Aliran committee members and representatives of other NGOs in Penang such as Suaram, the Women’s Centre for Change and Hindraf.
The Selangor Bersih team were not as fortunate when distributing leaflets with scuffling breaking out in Kuala Selangor, prompting police to intervene.
