The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0) wishes to remind all political parties and candidates that the campaigning period for the Rantau by-election ends at 11.59pm today, 12 April 2019, as tomorrow (13 April) is polling day.
According to the Election Offences Act, campaigning and canvassing for votes on polling day by any means is prohibited. This includes setting up any voter reference booth (pondok panas) outside polling centres and campaigning on social media.
We urge all quarters to respect the cooling off period that starts at midnight in order to create a free voting environment for voters on polling day.
If you find anyone campaigning on polling day or committing election offences, please lodge a report with the enforcement team established by the Electoral Commission by contacting the operations room at 06-6011028 or the team leaders at 013-3934060/ 017-6786728/013-4947420/ 012-9176070.
We also encourage you to lodge a police report at any police station, and send a copy of the police report to [email protected] for documentation purposes.
