Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah was given a hero’s welcome by hundreds of Bersih supporters who braved a downpour to gather at historical Dataran Merdeka following her release.
Following relentless public pressure, Maria was freed after just 10 days from her arrest under the draconian security law Sosma, actually allows for an initial 28-day detention-without-trial period.
Over 46,000 people had signed an online petition calling for her release.
