9.00 – Session 1: Introduction to the law of inquests.
Relevant laws. What is an inquest? When is an inquest conducted? Who presides? Method of inquiry. Standard of proof. Lawyer’s role. “Watching brief”. Cases where inquests have been conducted.

10.30 – Coffee Break
11.00 – Session 2: Difficulties faced by lawyers in conducting Inquests. Gathering of evidence and preparation for inquests.

Noon – Role of the media and support groups.

1.00pm – Lunch

2.00 – Session 3: Case studies
Role play in hypothetical situations. What to do?

3.30 – Tea

4.00 – Session 4: Q and A session
