(English translation below)

- Make a one-off donation to Persatuan Aliran Kesedaran Negara, CIMB a/c 8004240948

Ahli-ahli persatuan juga memilih berikut bagi jawatankuasa eksekutif: P Ramakrishnan, Dr Prema Devaraj, Andrew Wong, Dr Soon Chuan Yean, Dr Andrew Aeria, Ridfan Abdul Hamid, Angeline Loh, Dr Subramaniam Pillay, Dr Lye Tuck-Po, Dr Faisal S Hazis and Dr Ngu Ik Tien.

Aliran goes digital, broadens online presence
Aliran will be entering a new digital era with the phasing out of Aliran Monthly which is now in its 33rd and last year of publication.
Members at Aliran’s 37th AGM today deliberated extensively on Aliran’s new digital turn. To enhance its online outreach, members are expected to get involved in writing online content, producing e-newsletters and moderating social media interaction.
The Thinking Allowed or TA Online section of the website will feature contributions from a wider pool of writers, including youths. Members realise they have to reach out to younger Malaysians and in this regard, Aliran hopes to organise workshops specially geared to this target group.
The AGM also discussed a proposal to set up a research unit to provide reliable data on current pressing socio-economic and political issues like GST, income inequalities, federal-state relations, worsening ethno-religious relations and the abuse of the sycophantic media for political purposes.
These were among the highlights of the discussion at the AGM today.
Former professor of politics Dr Francis Loh retained his position as Aliran president. Similarly Dr Mustafa K Anuar, Henry Loh and Anil Netto were re-elected as honorary secretary, assistant secretary and honorary treasurer respectively.
Members also elected the following to the executive committee: P Ramakrishnan, Dr Prema Devaraj, Andrew Wong, Dr Soon Chuan Yean, Dr Andrew Aeria, Ridfan Abdul Hamid, Angeline Loh, Dr Subramaniam Pillay, Dr Lye Tuck-Po, Dr Faisal S Hazis and Dr Ngu Ik Tien.
Syerleena Abd Rashid was elected honorary auditor.
In his keynote address, Loh highlighted the turnaround that had occurred in the Najib administration in the aftermath of GE13. Whereas prior to May 2013, Najib had promoted 1Malaysia and the New Economic Model and repealed oppressive laws like the ISA, he was now allowing extremists like Perkasa, Pekida and Isma to restore the ketuanan Melayu agenda. In this regard, Najib had remained peculiarly silent on the Allah issue. There has been an announcement to introduce the Bumiputera Economic Empowerment Agenda too.
Finally, whereas Najib had tried to tout himself as a moderate and liberal, his governant is now bringing back preventive detention through the back door via the recent amendments to the Prevention of Crime Act. All this, Loh said, required vigilance on the part of civil society.
