Aliran is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic news of MH17 being brought down over a conflict zone in the Ukraine. This tragedy has taken 298 lives of passengers and crew members.

With the inexplicable disappearance of MH370 still fresh in our minds, the loss of MH17 is very hard to bear. Our thoughts and prayers are with the many families from the various nations including ours who will be struggling to come to terms with their tragic loss.
We hope a thorough and independent investigation into what had happened is conducted and that the culprits who caused this tragedy are made to account for their actions. Although this will not bring back those who have perished, it is crucial that those responsible for this senseless, inhumane act are brought to justice.
Too many precious and vulnerable lives have been made lost due to violent conflicts in this world, be it in the Ukraine, West Asia or other flashpoints. It is especially heinous and reprehensible if this mid-air tragedy that has destroyed innocent lives is the outcome of a proxy war involving major world powers.
The nation must rally together and support one another through this difficult period. It is a time for reflection, prayer and caring.
