Aliran notes the passing of SM Mohamed Idris at the age of 93 with sadness.
He was founding president of Consumers Association of Penang, Sahabat Alam Malaysia and Third World Network.
His efforts through CAP, SAM and TWN influenced thousands of Malaysians over the years.
An activist till the end, he was scheduled to address the press on Monday over the “three islands” land reclamation in Penang.
His voice provided a counterweight to the rapacious greed and profiteering of this era.
