Digital visuals of human suffering could spark rebirth of democracy

How badly we need such a rebirth! The politics of nations is in shambles, and representative democracy is torn and tattered

Many people today believe we are in “an era of change”.

But there is a growing consciousness among a small minority that the world today is, at its core, facing “a change of era”.

This is being driven by the digital hyper-information phenomenon. This virtual reality has opened our eyes – and not just the eyes of political, social and religious institutions – to painful human realities

The future is now in our hands. We have all the time to use as we please to grow in depth through reflection. Or we can just let our fingers browse and swipe past these realities, treating them as passing curiosities.

If something we see online strikes us or touches us, don’t let it pass! Add your thoughts and insights and maybe share them with someone else. This sort of sharing led to the silent majority of the past – and it will become the vocal, visual power of the change of era that is happening already. This will give rise to the only true rebirth of democracy in civilisational history.

How badly we need such a rebirth! The politics of nations is in shambles, and representative democracy is torn and tattered. The shame of the UN is being exposed by those who are raising their voices boldly to speak with courage for the voiceless – and we have heard their digitalised voices. These are not Hollywood movies that are soon forgotten. No, these live-streams stir the mind and churn the heart.

I want to believe that the outrage over the most hideous crimes of humanity that inflict unbearable human suffering will give birth to a renewed human sanity. This will be directed by a new moral compass implanted in the inner human template.

If all our religions move together to alleviate human suffering, the young (in wisdom and not just in age and education) will dare to dream of a more just and compassionate world and will refuse to be dragged into the matrix of power, mammon and racism.
