Dental surgeons everywhere are responsible and undertake their roles as professionals for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment of diseases and disorders ranging from oral cavities and related structures.
I believe the dental surgeons at the Bangsar Dental Clinic in Kuala Lumpur epitomise these virtues.
In Malaysia, those requiring dental treatment have a choice to either seek private dental treatment, if they can afford it or head to public dental clinics. I am fortunate, as I have a choice of both.
Many public sector services are criticised for their inefficiency and often receive brickbats rather than compliments. One place that is bucking the trend is the Bangsar Dental Clinic.
For many years, I have been going to private dental clinics, but I now opt for the government dental clinic in Bangsar. Why? Because this clinic provides excellent service.

Strategically located at a convenient landmark in Kuala Lumpur, this clinic is easily accessible by light rail (Bangsar) and bus. With the sprouting of high-rise buildings near Bangsar and Brickfields, I hope this clinic will remain at this location for many more years to come.
Recently, the clinic, officially opened in 1972 by then Health Minister Lee Siok Yew, celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Everyone, from the counter staff to the dental surgeons, works with passion and dedication. They always try to serve patients with care and concern and treat them with respect and dignity. The clinic gives priority to senior citizens and people with disabilities.
At the clinic, I am delighted that my treatment is often completed within an hour. The clinic, along with its staff from the counter staff to the dental surgeons, is a source of pride to the dental profession and the civil service.
Any complaints? The Ministry of Health can make some improvements for the convenience of patients and in the best interests of the clinic staff. I have already conveyed my views on this matter.
How I wish other government agencies can emulate the Bangsar Dental Clinic, as they are a benchmark in efficiency and dedication in the civil service.
Keep up the good work! Patients like me always appreciate your service.
