The opposition leaders’ quick and unconditional agreement to put aside their respective party flags and instead unite under the Keadilan banner has created ripples across the nation, observes JD Lovrenciear.

The strategies (or rather, tentacles, as it is beginning to appear) unleashed to derail the opposition front have failed hopelessly by any standard.

In the face of a derailed Bersatu party, which could have imploded on Pakatan Harapan, the opposition pact has bounced back strongly.

The opposition leaders’ quick and unconditional agreement to put aside their respective party flags – the pride and bastion of political parties – and instead unite under the Keadilan flag has created ripples across the nation.

The ability of the leaders to unite under the very flag of Anwar’s party, which was born out of perilous pains, could cement in voters a clearer conviction of the Big Picture opportunities and necessity for a united Malaysia.

This is not a solution made out of desperation. It is a solution formulated by delving into the hearts and minds of voters and coming up with an attestation of strength, conviction and determined resolve to save Malaysia.

That is the perception now taking root across the length and breath of the nation going by the relief, tears of joy and cries for victory flooding social media, minutes after Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s announcement in Pasir Gudang last night.

If this unexpected development does not give BN leaders sleepless nights, then nothing will.
The opposition parties have demonstrated that they have evolved and changed with the times. They have fortified the citizens’ long cherished desire for change.

Given this inspiring and exciting development, perhaps even the architects who redrew the constituency boundaries may have reason to start worrying.

Indeed, when we agree to hold on to hope with truth as the cornerstone, we can scale any height, united.

The spirit that prevails celebrates with a united cry, “Well done, Team Malaysia.”
