Good Blood Runs Through All Our Veins

I am Malay,
I am Indian,
I am Chinese,
I am lain-lain,
I am Malaysian.

I am black,
I am white,
I am brown,
I am yellow,
I am any hue and tone.

I am human,
I am Homo Sapien,
I am like everyone, man and woman,
descended from our common ancestors from the African plains,
a mere 3,500 generations or 100,000 years ago.

My blood is red with haemoglobin, so is the blood in your veins.
My blood is good for transfusion for you,
so is your blood as good a lifesaver for me.
Good blood runs through all our veins.

By a stroke of luck and coincidence,
I was born in Malaysia to my Chinese parents.
I am lucky to have Malaysia to come home to,
Unlike many, including the Rohingya, the Palestinians and millions of refugees who have nowhere to go home to.

Our hearts pump with good blood,
nourishing the universe within us.
Counting blessings with empathy and compassion, instead of evil,
for our fellow brothers and sisters with all their woes.
