A full week has now passed since the most aggressive and outrageous aerial bombardment of Iran began – missiles and bombs raining down with devastating force.
Neither the US nor Israel appears to have paused to consider that most of the people of Iran are fasting for Ramadan.
The Western media, meanwhile, seems more focused on the firepower and precision of the attackers than on the fear, pain and suffering endured by ordinary people.
The mission to kill and maim has taken on a surreal quality – a grim echo of the murderous Pol Pot regime, but now orchestrated from Washington DC and Tel Aviv.

These two regimes have extended the utter devastation that began in Gaza on 7 October 2023 to both Iran and Lebanon.
The international response has been tepid. The vast majority of UN member states, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries, have issued bland calls for a halt to the conflict – while otherwise remaining preoccupied with their own narrow national interests.
What we are witnessing is the worst international carnage of this century, perpetrated by the world’s most powerful nation. That country – a so-called democracy – appears to have neither the decency nor the political will to stop this violent, regime-driven catastrophe.
We can only sympathise with innocent people who bear the brunt of this devastation and pray for their safety and wellbeing.
