We will be remembered as the generation that toppled a corrupt government and got rid of the greatest kleptocrat the world has ever seen, writes P Ramakrishnan.
Finally, the time has arrived. This is not the time to ponder or wonder about the candidates or the parties.
This is not the time to look for the calibre of the candidates or assess the quality of the various parties. This time around, the choice is easy and simple: the choice is between Harapan and Barisan Nasional. These are the two big players who will make the difference to this nation’s progress and development and the type of future we will enjoy.
All the other parties and candidates don’t count in this general election!
For over 60 years, we have witnessed the rule of the Umno-dominated government that had regressed over time.

We have lost our free space and the freedom to express ourselves through oppressive laws that have taken away most of our rights. Information has certainly been denied through the free use of the Official Secrets Act.
As many will vouch, we have been subjected to the worst kind of general election this time around. It is an election that does not, by and large, permit a free and fair choice with so many restrictive rules and regulations and the lopsided redrawing of constituency boundaries – all of which have as put the Opposition extremely at a disadvantage.
Corruption has escalated to frightening heights. Deaths in custody have become a recurrent nightmare. Accountability is almost nil as can be seen with 1MDB. There is perceived to be rampant abuse of power. There is an absence of the rule of law, as many have claimed.
The list can go on.
If you choose BN, there will be no end to all this. It will continue unabated.
Is this what we want? Certainly not!
On the other hand, Harapan will free you from the clasp of tyranny and provide you with governance that will be fresh and meaningful. There will be no wastage; there will be no squandering of the nation’s wealth; there will be rule of law as all the oppressive laws will be abrogated.
Those of you who wonder what happens if Harapan were to return to the bad ways of BN? We will throw them out!
We have empowered ourselves by throwing out BN. We have established the simple truth that Malaysians will henceforth decide who will govern us. This empowerment will decide the future of Harapan. Don’t you fear!
Friends, change is possible; it is inevitable. It is waiting to happen!
We are on the cusp of history when polling comes to an end on 9 May 2018. It affords us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring about a new dawn and a new hope.
This election promises possibilities that are within our reach. There never has been such a promising occasion or opportunity for change to take place ever before in our entire history.
History will remember this generation that did not fail the nation. We will stand tall and proud as the generation that saved Malaysia. We will be remembered as the generation that toppled a corrupt government and got rid of the greatest kleptocrat the world has ever seen.
This generation will be immortalised in the history of Malaysia as the one that believed in the unbelievable and dared to dream the impossible.
Go out tomorrow and vote in Harapan and vote out BN!
