We must nurture our muhibah culture in multi-racial, multi-religious Malaysia and put compassion as our first and last line of defence, writes JD Lovrenciear.
As the country continues to bask in the refreshing winds of change, the new cabinet line-up announced by the prime minister can best be described as a compassionate team.
Indeed, compassion is the best bonus that all Malaysians deserve having endured so much frustration, disappointment, struggle and shame these past two decades.
One will easily admit that compassion is the hallmark of these new cabinet members. The commitment towards principles has been and must remain the cornerstone of a compassionate leader.
Their ability to be moderate and inclusive in their conduct throughout the ordeal the nation faced is the benchmark of effective compassion. Their track record of thoughts, words and deeds, of uncompromising stands taken in the past mirrors their solid anchoring on compassionate leadership.

For selecting this team of cabinet members we thank our compassionate prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Anwar Ibrahim, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Lim Kit Siang.
Malaysians must now emulate and live this compassionate wave that is being led by the government. We must nurture our muhibah culture in multi-racial, multi-religious Malaysia and put compassion as our first and last line of defence.
May God bless all our endeavours for a just, fair and clean future in the national resurrection of dignity, honour and progress.
