Let the incoming government organise a huge weekend gathering of citizens and leaders for a day of song, merriment and renewal of our muhibah zeal to move the people forward, suggests JD Loverciear.
Yes, we made it. After all the trials, tribulations, including the past 24 hours of palpitations, weary and tired but jubilant Malaysians need a day of rejoicing.
As pointed out by acclaimed Malaysian writers, we set a new benchmark for the world to learn a thing or two from Malaysia. The region too will emulate our grit and determination.
And so, let the incoming government organise a huge weekend gathering of citizens and leaders for a day of song, merriment and renewal of our muhibah zeal to move the people and its leaders to the nation’s next benchmark of excellence.
Such a public gathering will not pose the old government’s yarn of “security threats” because with this new beginning, the police and defence units must showcase to the world that they are world- class agents of public order.
With the police and armed forces as the unseen hands of vigilance, a huge nationwide public celebration will go a long way in showcasing our celebration of democracy.
We have been muzzled, punished, threatened, deprived of freedom, and denied the full flourishing of a nation of otherwise peaceful, loving, harmonious citizens of goodwill.
This weekend, may the incoming government declare a wonderful evening of nationwide celebrations. It will inspire us and make us feel rewarded for the greatest duty we have all patriotically performed for ‘Malaysia yang disayangi’.
