Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was in a five-cornered fight to defend his Langkawi seat, only managed to win 4,566 of the 48,123 votes cast.
Another Pejuang leader to have lost his deposit was deputy chairman Marzuki Yahya, who lost in Sungai Petani.
Other big names who lost their deposits included former plantation industries and commodities minister Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang), former deputy communications and multimedia minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin (Padang Besar), film director Ahmad Idham Nadzri and independent candidate Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah (Port Dickson).

In the Batu seat, which saw a 10-cornered fight, eight candidates lost their deposits, including Barisan Nasional’s A Kohilan Pillay and independent candidate Tian Chua. The others who lost their deposit were Wan Azliana Wan Adnan (Pejuang), Naganathan Pillai (Warisan), Zulkifli Abdul Fattah (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and independents Siti Kasim, Nur Fathiah Syazwana Shaharuddin and Too Cheng Huat.
In Damansara, Gobind Singh Deo’s 142,875 vote haul meant both his BN and Perikatan Nasional challengers lost their deposits.
A total of 129 candidates who contested in state elections in Pahang, Perlis and Perak also lost their deposits.
To contest in an election, a candidate must pay a deposit of RM10,000 for a parliamentary seat and RM5,000 for a state seat.
When Pakatan Harapan won in the 2018 general election, Mahathir was selected as Prime Minister on the understanding he would let Anwar Ibrahim take over as PM after two years.
But after 22 months, Mahathir and his party members left PH suddenly. He played us out. As a result, PH did not have enough seats to maintain control of the government.
In fact, I had donated RM200,000 to Mahathir and campaigned for him ahead of the 2018 general election. If he had remained in PH, PH would have gained a lot more votes in the 2022 general election to form the government.

Contrary to popular belief, Dr Mahathir Mohamad did NOT apply for the royal pardon
for Anwar. Dr M promised to apply after the GE14 victory.
But the application for pardon was done before the 2018 general election by Anwar’s
family and announced during the GE14 victory.
Of course, the Dr M camp immediately imputed sinister intentions on the part of the
family of Anwar who was still languishing in jail.
That was the tone and tenor of the start of the PH Government led by Dr M in 2018.
It is very obvious that Tun Mahathir is trying his utmost best to oust DSAI and his Unity govt. With Tun’s conniving and racial disharmony speeches Tun is losing the battle.
The netizens are already fedup. Is even more embarassing that in the last election he lost his deposit in a seat Tun was so sure of winning. The people have spoken.
Now with DSAI stand on CORRUPTION irrespective of who you are is a very big worry for him and his family who have amassed a fortune during Tun.s tenure. Now the cat is out of the bag and Tun is worried. Tun.s arrogance is going to be is downfall from grace. Tun should just quit politics and live a respectful and quiet life but Tun chose to create racial and religious disharmony. curtains time now.
You cannot trust that M… who hijacked the Malay Agenda!
