M Santhananaban, a former ambassador with 45 years of public sector experience, has written a poignant eulogy following the untimely demise of the late Dato’ Noor Farida Ariffin.
He wrote most aptly: “Farida was the ultimate patriot, loyalist, diplomat and kind soul.”
Many others have shared their admiration for this soldier of human rights on social media.Â
Most media dedicated their pages to rightfully honour this woman of substance.
To say more is never enough – because the late Farida has left us a permanent gift, without asking for any price.Â

Her pioneering sacrifices through G25 need no mention as they are etched in the hearts and memories of countless people in Malaysia – small and great individuals who march for the love of our beloved nation.Â
For me, like for many other ordinary, unsung people of this land, she is an everlasting flame of inspiration.
She was the epitome of courage, borne out of deep love for a nation that could be greater. If we need to describe patriotism, it is all in the legacy this steadfast woman has left behind.
She was a moderate Malay-Muslim whose thoughts and beingness brought dignity and glory for the faith she professed. This is so unlike the political opportunists who use (abuse) religion for power, control and political popularity.
Above all, I believe more people in Malaysia, especially women, will continue to rise to defend our ailing nation because the late Farida has left her imprint in our souls.
May she rest in eternal peace.
