In recent days, Malaysians have been disturbed by media reports about the judiciary.

In an affidavit, Justice Hamid Sultan has made shocking allegations that certain members of the judiciary have colluded with certain individuals to defraud the government.

Another group Lawyers for Liberty said that it had collected evidence of interference with subordinate court judges in politically sensitive matters.

These serious allegations, if not addressed, will lead to the further erosion of public confidence in the integrity of the judiciary.

In light of this, we the undersigned urgently call for the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry with broad terms of reference to look into the causes of this erosion of confidence and to recommend immediate measures to repair the damage to the judiciary.
