Very sad indeed
We pride ourselves in
memorising the Arabic
verses of Quran,
yet we do not understand
their essence
We are mesmerised by the
beautiful tunes and
tones of Quranic
recitations,
yet we lose their insightful
meanings
We treat verses of Quran as
forms of talisman
(tangkal) to ward off evil
desperately/dangerously
wanting a short byway to
heaven
We get easily satisfied with
simple blessings (berkat)/
brownie points
yet we lose sight of the
mystical and miraculous
power of human
consciousness as
vicegerents of Allah
And we religiously worship
rituals rather than earnestly
trying to communicate and
be in the presence of the
defining Light of Allah
(mi’raj)
Yet we do NOT REFLECT/
PONDER (tadabbur) upon
the inward and outward
message of verses of
the Quran
As our guide and be at
peace (nafs mutmainnah)
So we continue to be
compassionate seekers in
search of truth and the
primordial universal love
