On 3 April Malaysia’s Parliament passed sweeping legal reforms to remove the mandatory death penalty, trim the number of offences punishable by death and abolish natural-life prison sentences.
BFM talks to Amnesty International Malaysia executive director Katrina Jorene Malimauv and Lawyers For Liberty director Zaid Malek about what these reforms mean and how they can be implemented effectively. They also discuss how this move will affect those who are currently on death row.
