In his latest book The System: Who Rigged It, How We Fix It, Robert Reich argues that power and wealth in the US are concentrated within the same group of wealthy individuals and corporations who hold much power over the economy.
Are there parallels in other countries like Malaysia?
Astro Awani’s Melisa Idris speaks to Reich, the Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. He is co-creator of the award-winning documentary film Inequality for All and the co-founder of Inequality Media.
He has served in three US administrations, including as secretary of labour in the Clinton administration, for which Time magazine named him one of the 10 most effective cabinet secretaries of the 20th Century.
Reich was a speaker at the International Social Wellbeing Conference 2024, organised by the Employees Provident Fund.
