The Malaysian Bar is seeking a judicial review of the attorney general’s decision to grant a discharge not amounting to an acquittal to Zahid Hamidi, who had faced 47 corruption charges.
The conditional discharge was granted, even after a prima facie case had been established after 77 days of trial.
The bar has raised its concern that this matter is of public interest.
BFM talks to Karen Cheah, president of the Malaysian Bar, about why its move is important to uphold the sanctity of the judiciary.
