Lim Wei Jiet views that the ’emergency’ does not give the executive limitless power is reassuring.
But this is still early days.
Will an aggrieved party challenge an injustice in court?
Will a presiding judge interpret the offending ordinance as Wei Jiet has suggested or will he/she be more concerned about career promotion prospects?
These bring us into the realm of speculation about what precisely the executive hopes to achieve by the emergency.

No, I do not believe I am being disloyal to question the executive’s motives in this emergency. The fact of the matter is that the executive has more than enough weapons in his arsenal to deal with the covid 19 spike in our country.
