Retired Colonel Douglas Macgregor, speaking with former US jurist Judge Napolitano, has claimed that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was “installed” by the US to counter the Muslim Brotherhood and safeguard the interests of the US, Israel and the West.
He added that rising public discontent over Egypt’s silence on Israel’s actions in Gaza has fuelled concerns about the stability of el-Sisi’s regime, with fears that the Suez Canal could fall into the hands of ‘enemies’ of Israel and the West, prompting discussions of further intervention.
