As we approach the general election, there are burning questions about whether:
- our votes will matter?
- political instability will continue?
- Malaysia’s democracy will survive?
It is evident that politics will never be the same again, as we move from one-coalition predominance to fluid multi-party competition.
But the transition has not been smooth and has revealed glaring limitations and weaknesses in our system.
There is no magic pill to address this, but there are a series of crucial reforms that will strengthen the system and lead to better governance of Malaysia. This conference discusses these reforms in a series of panel sessions helmed by civil society leaders, politicians, technical experts and legal practitioners.
