The International Court of Justice (ICJ) opened public hearings in The Hague on Israel’s ban of the UN Relief and Works Agency (Unrwa) on Monday, 28 April.
It follows a request from the UN General Assembly for an advisory opinion on Israel’s obligations concerning the presence and activities of the UN and other actors in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The court is examining whether Israel’s restrictions on Unrwa and humanitarian aid comply with international law.
The hearing will run until 2 May, with 44 states and four international organisations scheduled to present statements.
Malaysia is represented by Azalina Othman Said, its minister responsible for law and institutional reform.
