An article in The Vibes reported that the police force ranks the highest in the list of complaints to the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC).

BFM speaks to Firdaus Husni from the Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights, Cynthia Gabriel from the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) and Tricia Yeoh, CEO of the Institute of Democracy and Economic Affairs.

They discuss data showing that the public is becoming increasingly vocal about corruption even as political interference makes our institutions ineffective. They also talk about the reforms needed to address corruption in our government.

Corruption may have become an accepted culture so rakyat may have to learn to live with and may be common in several countries regardless of status.

Complicated legal procedures coupled with time consuming court proceedings which extend for years and suspects remain free [on bail amounts perceived to be comparatively nominal] to enjoy freedom & lifestyles with some at cost of taxpayers, coupled with perceived non-deterrent penalties with no loss of reputation/shame may be contributing factors to level of corruption amount and status of those involved including leaders .
