While our economy seems to be on the mend, in conjunction with the first International Equal Pay Day on 18 September, BFM speaks with Jan Li Yuen, advocacy officer with the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) on how the economic crisis will affect the gender pay gap in Malaysia.

As usual will the male dominated corporate sector again act against the women in their cost cutting measurs and keep comparatively less qualified/experienced and retrench the higher qualified/experienced women? WHY DO WOMEN NOT TAKE DIRECT ACTION TO PROTECT THEMSELVES AS WHEN THEY HAVE POWER VIA THEIR VOTES AS IN THE CASE OF POLITICS-CORPORATE-OTHER SECTORS THEY STILL VOTE FOR MEN TO POWER AND POSITIONS INSTEAD OF OTHER WOMEN AND AGAIN WHY DON’T WOMEN STAND FOR ELECTIONS FOR POSITIONS OF POWER? [Women’s greatest enemy may be their own kind in their quest to get their rights]
