The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has just dealt a devastating blow to Israel’s propaganda war – dismissing its central claim that the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) is no longer “neutral” or “impartial”.
In its official opinion, the court ruled that Israel failed to provide any credible evidence proving that Unrwa breached international humanitarian law under Article 59 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, effectively calling Israel’s accusations baseless and politically motivated.
The judges made it clear: neutrality is not even a legal requirement under Article 59 – impartiality is – and Unrwa continues to meet those standards.
The ICJ further ruled that the “information before the court is not sufficient” to establish any violation by Unrwa, crushing Israel’s attempt to weaponise humanitarian aid for political gain.
For months, Israel has accused Unrwa of being “infiltrated by terrorists”, claiming that Hamas command centres and weapons were found near 32 Unrwa facilities in Gaza.

But this latest ruling exposes that narrative for what it really is – a desperate smear campaign designed to dismantle the only organisation feeding and sheltering millions of Palestinians trapped under siege.
This is more than a courtroom defeat – it’s a global reckoning. The ICJ’s stance signals to the world that international law still matters and that Israel cannot hide behind lies while starving Gaza.
This ruling now puts pressure on Western nations that cut Unrwa funding to reverse course immediately or risk complicity in collective punishment.
