A new emergency law was introduced yesterday, allowing the prime minister, chief ministers and menteris besar to pass additional spending without getting approval from state legislative assemblies, for as long as the state of emergency stays in place.
This has led to concerns of accountability for the lack of scrutiny over state government expenditures. BFM speaks with lawyer Lim Wei Jiet for his views.
