The fate of the north Kuala Langat forest reserve is still hanging in the balance.
Though the menteri besar of Selangor announced back in September that the degazetted forest would be regazetted, nothing has happened so far.
The member besar has also said that the regazetting will only take place after a decision is made on the East Coast rail link alignment.
What does this all mean and what is stalling the regazetting? To figure this out, BFM speaks to June Tan and Suresh Kumar, who are both part of the Pertahankan Hutan Simpan Kuala Langat Utara (Defend north Kuala Langat forest reserve) coalition, which is collectively demanding that the Selangor state government carries out its promise to regazette the forest immediately, with no more delays, and without attaching any conditions.
