The government was set to establish an ombudsman’s office, tasked with managing and investigating complaints against the public service.

The legislation underpinning it was initially slated to be tabled in Parliament last October but has been delayed pending a re-evaluation of its scope, function and role.

What’s behind the delay? Astro Awani’s Melisa Idris speaks to Pushpan Murugiah, CEO of the Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism, and Prof Nik Ahmad Kamal Nik Mahmood, a former commissioner with the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission.
