The 25th anniversary of the Reformasi movement fell on 20 September.
It began with the sacking and arrest of then Deputy PM Anwar Ibrahim in 1998.
BFM talks about the origins of this political movement with people who were there when it happened. On the line are human rights activist Masjaliza Hamzah, actor Jo Kukathas and Sumit Mandal, an associate professor at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
