Pezeshkian has promised to open up Iran to the world and negotiate a nuclear deal with Western countries to remove sanctions and improve the economy.
He has also promised social justice, equal rights and an end to gender discrimination, as well.
Whether he will be able to deliver on his promises or not depends on two factors.
Internationally, despite Pezeshkian wanting to remove the sanctions, it does not necessarily mean this will happen because he will have to negotiate with world powers.
And internally, he is going to face resistance from the political establishment – the unelected officials and bodies are significantly powerful in Iran and without their approval, it is going to be quite tough for him to implement his promised policies.
