Sungai Ara (Fig River), which meanders along the Sungai Ara Linear Park, was certified as the cleanest river in Malaysia in 2015. This film by Andrew Ng Yew Han follows Rexy Prakash Chacko and Dr Kam Suan Pheng from Penang Hills Watch and Penang Forum in their journey exploring Sungai Ara from upstream to downstream.

If peacock fish can survive in our rivers and streams then we are all right. 25 years ago the drain along the St. George Girls School at the turning of Macalister Road into Jalan Hospital, there were peacock fish swimming. I don’t know whether they are still there.
