Alastair Crooke, a former British diplomat and intelligence officer and now a geopolitical analyst, argues that Iran is successfully executing a long-term plan to re-establish itself as the dominant regional power, effectively reducing Gulf states to subordinate roles. He contends that US and Israeli air superiority claims are vastly exaggerated, asserting that Iran possesses decisive missile capabilities and robust defences that would turn a ground invasion of the Hormuz region into a catastrophe for the US.

Lt Col Daniel Davis, a retired US Army officer and senior fellow at Defense Priorities, focuses on the tactical and operational disconnect between US political rhetoric and the harsh realities on the ground in West Asia. He highlights evidence that US military bases are vulnerable and suggests that current plans to force a diplomatic solution through military superiority are based on flawed assumptions, arguing that Iran holds the stronger hand and is winning the current strategic confrontation
